Do you have muscle knots that need releasing? You could benefit from our Myofascial Release Class!

What is Fascia?

To get scientific, fascia is a fibrous collagenous net of connective tissue which surrounds every muscle, organ and cell in the human body. Fascia connects each part of your body and allows them to slide easily with movement. Myofascial release focuses on maintaining the fascial system and ensuring it functions in a way that promotes wellbeing and optimal movement.

How can it cause problems?

When our fascial system is not functioning as well as it should it can manifest as tightness and knots. These knots, known in more technical terms as myofascial trigger points are the tender spots in bands of muscle and fascia that produce pain. They can prevent proper function of the muscle by limiting your range of motion and weakening movement. Poor fascial systems can also present as poor posture.

How can these knots be treated?

There are many ways you can find these knots and release them. Foam rollers are particularly helpful in doing this, be warned though it can be painful before you reach the “ahh” moment. Other things you can do:

  • Stretch
  • Stay hydrated
  • Avoid overusing muscles
  • Practice foam rolling and other myofascial release techniques

The good news is that our myofascial release class with Renee will help you to find these knots and release them, through the use of a foam roller and trigger balls. You will learn techniques that you can continue to use at home. Join us Wednesday from 7:30am to experience the relief yourself.
